Golconda, hill top wonderful and historical Fort was built in 12th century by Kakateeya kings. Kakateeya queen Rudrama devi strengthened this fort. This fort was built on a granite hill which is 120 meters height.
Afer Kakatiyas Qutub Shahi kings stregthened this fort. This massive fort has 8 gates and 87 bastions. Now, Ruins of palaces, mosques and a hill top pavilion are found in inner fort.
In 1687 mughal emperor Aurangazeb occupied this fort and intentionally ruined Golconda fort. This wonderful fort with architectural marvels is attracts visitors of Indians and foreigners. It is believed that Kohinoor diamond which was found here.
The wonderful architectural plan of Golkonda provides uninterrupted water supply throughout the year. The fort had sprawling gardens and dancing fountains, but now in ruins.
